2017-07-19  HANDRAIL OF THE BRIDGE HELPED

At this nightly stroll, I didn’t had a tripod with me. The handrail of this bridge in Verona helped out, I could place my camera exactly in the desired position and was ready to shoot. My wife Karin was happy; she needn’t wait until the tripod would be prepared, adjusted, oriented and so on. Those little helpers could also be tables, park banks, sockets – all ready to be taken for shake free shots.

2017-07-18  MORNING IN VIENNA

Before the first guests come in, the ground of the sitting areas gets cleaned, the chairs and tables will get arranged soon, sun shades will get spanned, always many things to do in a restaurant which the guests won’t recognize directly, but belong to the feelgood factor.

2017-07-17  SUN IS BREAKING THROUGH THE TREES IN CANADA

The sheer size of these unbelievable big lakes south of Algonquin Park, Ontario, reminded you more of the open sea instead of lakes. We took an afternoon tour with a rented motor boat, near the evening we started going back to the rental station, where we had some difficulties finding the right waterway back between the lakes, because from our distance all looked nearly the same. 🙂 There I took some photos with the sinking sun breaking through the trees and shimmering on the water.

2017-07-16  TWIN PEAKS

What are Twin Peaks? The series from David Lynch which got a new season for 2017? Yes, correct, or an other possible answer is hills in San Francisco from where you can get a spectacular view of the city and the Bay Area. Our guide brought us there with the Volkswagen hippie bus. The weather was great so that I could take some nice shots. Helpful that I had my Sony Zeiss 24-70 F4 with me, to get the flexibility to shoot with the appropriate angles.  🙂

2017-07-15  REST IN CASTLE GRAFENEGG

I think this man was happy, that the baby in the red buggy was finally sleeping and he could take a rest with a newspaper in hand. Castle Grafenegg is in excellent preservation and got through a restoration which lasted some years. The history reaches back to 1294; then it got more phases of reconstructions during the centuries. One of the highlights of Austrian castles.

2017-07-14  FIELDS FROM THE QUADCOPTER

I have the admission from Austro Control, to fly with my quadcopter on uninhabited and unsettled areas, this means the nature, hills, mountains, and fields are flying territory for me. Even there some people get angry and think I am flying illegally. Then I have some short discussions, and sooner or later they give up and go their way. For me, the photos stay, and that’s my joy. 🙂

2017-07-13  SEGWAY BETWEEN THE BIKES

Stockholm is a great city for bikers; there are some bicycle-lanes where you can see hundreds of bikers driving. And no restrictions for Segways, they cruise around in the whole town. Stockholm has all means of transportation, bikes, Segways, Uber, Taxis, subways, trains, ships, rickshaws and your feet for the last mile. 🙂

2017-07-12  MURAL PAINTINGS IN KARLSKIRCHE

The Karlskirche in Vienna has an elevator which brings you up near the cupola. Then you have to take a wooden “Stairway to Heaven” ( :-)) to reach the top, but there the windows are barred with thick iron grids, no good condition for taking photos. So I went two levels down and concentrated on the phenomenal frescos of the vaulted walls. Those painters get too less attention for their art, though it is tough work to paint on these big walls and hold all in perspective, bring the right colors and arrange a set of motives which often tell a story.

2017-07-11  NORTHERN COAST OF CALIFORNIA

After we had left that cool Californian restaurant where we ate a lobster sandwich and experienced a beautiful sea view we continued our way to San Francisco. The more often I glanced out of the window, the more I knew we had to stop soon and take some shots of the sinking sun and the sea. I urged our driver to stop; then we saw a greater parking lot, we jumped out and started to shoot. I was the only “real” photographer, all other colleagues had only their phones with them, though you can also make great photos with smartphones. 🙂

2017-07-10  SYMMETRY OF BRATISLAVA CASTLE

I like the symmetry of this building with the long window fronts, the clear structure, the facade with the pale colors. On the photo is the patio of Bratislava Castle, where I did a one-day visit coming from Vienna with a hydrofoil. Bratislava is also an attractive low tax city; you can see many buildings of Amazon, Oracle, Accenture and other tech companies, which have their European headquarter there.
