2020-02-11  STREETS OF LONDON

After my dinner at a Turkish restaurant, I was on the street taking some photos. It was quite cold, but I couldn’t miss the opportunity for street photography in London. Only a few hundred meters away from the Qbic hotel, there were some cool streets, restaurants, and construction works for photo shooting.

2019-02-23 GOOD AFTERNOON IN LONDON

The photo comes from a one-day trip to London. The morning flight from Vienna was at about 6 am the evening flight at 8 pm. You cannot imagine what you can see on one day. From the Andreas Gursky exhibition in the Hayward Gallery to China town, a park, some bridges over the river Themes, Paddington, Little Venice, and Kensington. A full day tour with many memorable moments for the flight home. 🙂

2019-01-28   PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION II

“Pictures at an Exhibition” is a great song from Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. I had the joy to see a live concert from them, a rock band with classical elements. My photo shows the “Andreas Gursky” exhibition in Hayward Gallery, Southbank Centre, London. The most impressive photo show I have ever seen, most of the pictures had dimensions from 4-6 meters in length and height. I would wish, there could be a steady Andreas Gursky-exhibition which shows the photos for the years to come.

2019-01-25   CONSTRUCTION WORK IN LONDON

Coming out of Paddington Station on the way to Little Venice in London, I saw an armada of buildings in work. Gigantic steel traverses were coupled together surrounded by concrete slabs. I went to the barrier. Then I positioned myself for a photo. My wife was behind me. She had already shot a dozen pictures with her iPhone. In the meantime I do it similar, also shooting some additional smartphone photos, that I don’t miss a moment or a scene.

2019-01-09   LONDON TOWN

Although my wife was sitting at the window seat, I used the opportunity and leaned sideways for shooting a photo, which didn’t help. Then I changed the place for getting the right exposure out of the plane window, under me London town with beautiful weather. I had the mini full-format camera Sony RX1R in my bag which was ready to go.

2018-12-04   WALKING IN THE PARK IN LONDON

After visiting the Andreas Gursky exhibition in the Hayward Gallery in the Southpark Centre in London, we did a break in a nearby park and were watching the hustle and bustle around. An excellent opportunity for taking photos of the passengers and the parking area.

2018-08-27   PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION

The Hayward Gallery in London presented an Andres Gursky exhibition this year. It was one of the most significant photo collections I have ever seen. The sizeable 4×6 meter photos were impressive, one of a kind. Even the most expensive picture of all time, “Rhein II” was there. I took some photos of the collection with my Sony RX1R, the pocketable full frame camera.

2018-06-27   ANDREAS GURSKY EXHIBITION IN LONDON

The Hayward Gallery showed an Andreas Gursky exhibition. Most of his big art-works, often with a length of 6 meters and a width of 4 meters, were revealed. Also the most expensive photo in the world, “Rhein II.” An excellent photo exhibition.

2018-06-13   CHINATOWN OF LONDON

I love to visit the Chinatown’s. I think most famous are San Francisco and New York, but I can also recommend London. My wife Karin and I were at a street-food market, and two streets on we discovered Chinatown. It’s a mixture of British establishment-houses with Chinese culture. And many shops and food stores.

2018-06-10   SUNNY AFTERNOON IN LONDON

After visiting the Hayward Gallery in London I went outside and was standing on a bridge, where I could oversee that beautiful view of the themes, bridge, and boats. I took a pano from three photos to get the complete scenery on the photo. I stacked that pano from three handheld hdr-shots in Photoshop. When shooting panorama photos, it is important to get an overlap of about 30 percent from photo to photo. You will get better photo-merge results.
