At the canals in Milan, the whole area is a pulsating flow of Nighthawks, the cafes and bars are full, Italian night life at its best. Combined with the atmosphere of the buildings and the cobblestone streets it’s a must see destination for a Milan visit. 🙂

We googled after the “little Venice” in Milan and then we took a Car2Go-Smart to get there. This is really cool, if you are a member of Car2Go you can use these cars in Milan in the same way as in your home town. It’s particularly useful with the limited parking spaces, with the Smarts it’s lot easier to find free spaces. 🙂
In Milan I went from museums to exhibitions to churches to piazzas … In this exhibition, I think that was at the Expo, those walls were light-painted with colorful fruits. An impressive experience.
If you drive through the Maltese streets you cannot overlook the balconies, mostly each house has one. Those are relicts of the Moorish Epoch, they are built that women can hide from to be seen by the streets while at the same time they could observe the street scenes. Also the balconies with open windows provide a better circulation of fresh air in the Maltese houses, because windows are often only on the front and on the back of the flats.
This wall wasn’t for real but did a good multimedia impression after walking into this room at the Expo. It was a representation of news feeder, stock market quotes, real time information and video wall, all happening at the same time and a bit overwhelming 🙂
Often you get a good impression of Asian culture, even if you are not in Asia, as here in a museum in Milan with many interesting exhibits. Inside Asia, outside pure Italy. What do you need more for an unforgettable day?
The place to go in Milan is the city center with the dome. With this place and the surroundings, you can use the whole day for shooting hundreds of photos. Since I had no tripod with me and it was night already, I took my photos hand held.
The symbol of the EXPO in Milan was the “Tree of Life” or “Albero della Vita”, an architectural masterpiece, mostly built from wood, decorated with flowers, surrounded by water fountains.
This tree got his own musical suite from the Italian composer Roberto Cacciapaglia.
Die Stadt Mailand ist viele Reisen wert, letztes Jahr kam auch die Weltausstellung dazu. Ein Fundus für die Fotografie, die Länder-Pavillons übertrafen sich mit Ausstellungen, regional-typischen Spezialitäten und Snacks. Lange Schlangen konnten die Freude etwas trüben, aber mit der richtigen Objektivwahl konnte man unzählige Schnappschüsse landen.
Für die Weltausstellung wurden phantastische Pavillons geschaffen. Verschiedene Themenschwerpunkte spiegelten sich in den Gebäuden und Vorbauten wider. Zur Ehre der weltweit wichtigsten Getreidesorte wurde der Basmati Pavillon geschaffen. Im Eingangsbereich befanden sich kultivierte Demo-Reisfelder. Innen konnte man die Schritte des Reisanbaus nachverfolgen.
