2017-09-22  NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

It was not really night, but later afternoon in the NY Museum of Natural History. Standing on the gallery I shot that photo of the famous elephants in that big museum hall. Walking through the exhibition rooms I often thought about that funny movie with Ben Stiller “Night at the Museum”.  🙂

2017-09-09  NEW YORK CITY BLACK AND WHITE

“New York City ist die heißeste Stadt, wenn man einen neuen Boyfriend und ein Hotelzimmer hat.
NYC ist mein Lieblingsplatz, weil die Leute, die ich da kenne, sind ein wahrer Schatz.”

“New York City is the hottest place
For a honeymoon in a hotel room
New York City is my favorite place
‘Cause I know so many people with a golden face”  song text of “New York” by Nina Hagen.

2017-06-22  MANHATTAN IN THE NIGHT

I wanted to make the classical New York shot a bit different. I used darker/black colors, increased the glowing lights, turned the sky grayer. This style gives the pulsating city a look like Gotham City in Batman. 🙂  I did that shot on the Rockefeller observation deck “Top of the Rock,” best place to get the Empire State on a photo.

2017-05-17  THE ROCK OBSERVATION DECK IN NEW YORK

There are two great observation decks in New York, the Empire State Building, and the Rockefeller Center Deck. The Empire State is a bit higher, 86th floor, 320/1050 m/f compared to the Rockefeller “Top of the Rock” with 67th to the 70th floor, 259/850 m/f. On the Empire you are more in the center of Manhattan, the Rock shows you the central park if you look north. And the cool thing, both have outside decks. 🙂

2017-04-11  PATH TO THE SEA ON THE HAMPTONS

Loose wooden fences, some hassocks coming out of the sand, and a sandy path to the sea, and a blue sky – a typical scenery of the Hamptons. I took this shot at the beach of South Hampton; it was hard to find a place near the sea, which you could enter, most of the area are private properties. However, never give up, and often you will find what you are looking for 🙂 I am excited again and again how beautiful photos the little Leica D-Lux 5 makes. 😉

2016-09-19 ARCHITECTURE IN NEW YORK

Where to begin and where to stop with shooting pictures of architecture in NY ?  I tried to make the pictures a bit more abstract, with the result that this can be a picture of any bigger city  🙂  But with NY, nearly every angle and perspective have been photographed already.

2016-09-03 THE GUGGENHEIMS IN VENICE AND NEW YORK

This is real contrast, the style and architecture of the both Guggenheim museums, one in Venice the other in New York (there’s also one in Bilbao, but I never have been there). For me it is a compulsive viewing to visit the Guggenheim museum, because the type of art there corresponds fully to my taste.

2016-08-15 ARCHITECTURE IN NEW YORK

I am often thinking of which kind of architecture I like most… it depends on the city, in the US or in Asia I prefer the glass facades, in the older towns of Europe I like the buildings with pillars and ornaments.
