2017-11-07  CHAPEL IN A CASTLE

By walking on the first floor in Castle Grafenegg and looking at the garden & design exhibition, I saw that little chapel at an inconspicuous place, at the end of the exhibition path, where usually no one goes. It is remarkable how often you discover such hidden treasures in old castles. That’s the reason why each visit is a photographic journey for me. 🙂

2017-11-06  THE BIG LAKE

The Lake Neusiedl, a big steppe lake between Hungary and Austria, the blue sky with the glowing sun, a beach bar and some boats at anchor. These are the ingredients for an atmospheric chill-out photo. Coming together for a pleasant Sunday afternoon with some friends. Drink at the bar, ordering Averna on the rocks or Aperol Spritz. Shooting pictures and renting an electric boat to explore the reed belt which seams the shore, that’s relaxing.  😎

2017-11-05  WORLD OF DAIMONDS

At first glance, you might think you are at an art exhibition. Illuminated glass stars designed by a younger artist in a contemporary gallery? But I shot this photo in the elevator cab of the Tokyo Sky-tree tower. 🙂  It brings you to the observation deck on 450 m (1,480 ft).  There you get a great view of Tokyo in all four cardinal directions. And the cab interior is the attunement for something great to come.

2017-11-04  RAINBOWS AT THE FALLS

Capturing a rainbow at the falls is relatively easy.  The bright sun mixed with water dust creates the rainbows over the bay of the Niagara River, giving more excitement to that fantastic nature spectacle.

2017-11-03  FLAT LANDSCAPES OF MALTA

Malta has no mountains, some low hills, stony ground, bushes and agriculture between stone-walls. I never had the time yet, but walking through that landscape is on my agenda. I would choose fall or winter, where the temperatures are pleasant. The island gets greener and flowers blossom.

2017-11-02  CHANGI AIRPORT ESCALATORS

In the departure area of Singapore Changi Airport, I was able to shoot that photo with the long escalators. Again one of the architectural marvels you see at airports, but are often overlooked by the mass of people. Some areas of Changi Airport are high-level fashion malls. Others have different food courts from Chinese, Indian to American food. I tried a crispy pork with teriyaki sauce, very well tasting. 🙂

2017-11-01  LITTLE VENICE IN LONDON

The flight from San Francisco to Vienna was 2 hours late. So I missed the connecting flight in London. 😐 The next plane I got was in ten hours. I decided to take the airport express to Paddington and walk around. In my business bag, I had my Leica D-Lux 5. Looking at Google Maps, I saw that Little Venice is very near to the railway station. I started an exploring trip and got great views of that unknown part of London.

2017-10-31  CEILING FRESCO

The invitation to a classical-music concert brought me to castle Eckartsau. At the stairway, to the music hall, I saw that ceiling fresco. I took that shot with my Sony A7R II and Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art lens. It’s always a good idea, to have some parts of your photo equipment with you. 🙂

2017-10-30  SHOPPING IN TOKYO

Going into the little shops and kiosks is one of my habits when exploring cities. Tokyo is suitable for this. I liked it to see the different snacks, drinks, and accessories; often I couldn’t resist buying and trying. 🙂  Daifuku is one of my favorite sweets, soft, consisting of a small round mochi stuffed with sweet filling, most commonly Anko, sweetened red bean paste made from azuki beans.

BACK TO MAC, AFTER ONE WEEK WITH WINDOWS

Suddenly my iMac didn’t start anymore, no way to reactivate it. So I had to switch to my notebook and work with Windows 10. For me, that’s the OS I have grown up with, and I have broad experience. I have all Adobe products on the laptop, but no MacPhun software which led me to use Photomatix HDR. The Windows Explorer is a dream to work with, compared to the MacOS Finder. Maybe I will get more often back to Windows in the future, especially since the MacPhun software is also available for Windows now.  🙂  In the meantime, my Mac got a repair, and is in good shape again; it was a memory problem. The cause was possibly power fluctuations; I will buy a power plug which prevents voltage peaks.

2017-10-29  ENTRY TO SOMETHING BIG

What is looking a bit plain form the distance, is the entry to an unforgettable experience. You will see one of the biggest halls in the world, a Boeing factory building. Taking photos inside is forbidden. I can tell you seeing one dozen of airplanes like Boeing 747 or Boeing 787 Dreamliner built in one hall shows you a new dimension of industrial work.  😎
