2016-12-25 CHRISTMAS TREES IN MANY VARIATIONS

There is fantasy without borders for building Christmas trees from different materials. We have a white one built from paper and plastic, artfully crafted, looks really cool beside the real one. Also this one on the photo looks interesting. Hand made from glass jewelry it shines in bright light.

2016-12-23 MALTA WITH GREEN GRASS IN THE WINTER

During the winter months you can see green grass and blooming flowers in Gozo, the sister island of Malta. Compared to Middle/Northern Europe you think you are in the spring with the nice temperature of about 16 degrees Celsius. 🙂

2016-12-22 CHRISTMAS GETS NEARER

… so it is obligatory for Austrians to visit a Christmas market. The biggest one is in front of the town hall in Vienna, with dozens of booths, sculptures and a skating ground.

2016-12-21 FREEDOM FIGHTER IN KITZBÜHEL

Kitzbühel during summer is more silent than the busy winter months, but even during that time worth a visit. You can concentrate more on taking photos and relax. Here is the famous freedom fighter from Tyrol, named Andreas Hofer.

2016-12-20 ENTRY TO GARDEN OF GLASS

With only my IPhone and 20% battery left I entered this great exhibition where I immediately knew, that I had to try my best to cover those great exhibits with the (limited) equipment I had. Even in low light, the IPhone did a good job and I could go home with a bunch of great photos. 🙂 Then I was in a hurry, because 4 hours later was my flight from Seattle to London.

2016-12-19 HILL FROM THE HIGH WALL

The “High Wall” is a mountain-plateau where you have to be very careful with the observation areas. There’s no fence or warning sign, you go ahead and immediately you stand before a 100 meter scarp. The rocks are straight down, better to be free from giddiness. 🙂  This photo was taken some meters away from the big scarp, showing the whole valley among the “High Wall”.

2016-12-18 IMPRESSING PIPE ORGAN

I think you see pipe organs only in churches, the same is true with this one in the Karlskirche, Vienna. It was built in the Baroque.  The whole complex is a synthesis of art, with all the surrounding ornaments and structures.

2016-12-17 INDIANS TAKING PHOTOS AT TAJ MAHAL

At my day at Taj Mahal the vast majority of visitors were Indians. It’s pretty well organized that the crowds walk in lanes, put off their shoes and the access to the Taj Mahal-building is step by step. This is one of the really great sights in the world, you can see photographing activity with nearly every visitor. 🙂

2016-12-16 A DIFFERENT PORTRAIT OF SIGMUND FREUD

Occasionally I visit the Viennese “Graffiti Mile” looking for new paintings. This “new” interpretation of a portrait of Sigmund Freud looks interesting and is far away from conservative  🙂  That’s the freedom of art.
