2016-12-14 CRYSTAL CHANDELIERS OF THE ALBERTINA
The Albertina of Vienna ist not only an exhibition centre of great painters and photographers, there’s also a visitors’ way through the magnificent rooms of the House of Habsburg, an influential royal house of Austria and Europe. Those rooms were built from 1802 – 1822. It’s always funny how relatively tiny the beds, tables and chairs at those times have been, back then probably people have been a bit smaller than now. 🙂

2016-12-13 WARM NIGHTS IN MALTA
Since Malta lies in the same latitude as Northern Africa you can expect warmer nights during the autumn and winter months. These photos have been shot end of October where you could walk around with a T-shirt during evening and night, a big difference to central Europe where you need a winter jacket during these seasons. The first photo shows the Portomaso tower on the left, which is Malta’s highest building.

2016-12-12 CHRISTMAS PRESENTS
As we saw those light mugs we immediately knew that would be an ideal fit for our terrace. Since we switched to electrical candles some months ago, we will have steady light during the nights. The vendor was a man from Berlin who crafted all those hanging exhibits by hand.

2016-12-11 INSIDE LINCOLN ZOO
After a disappointing experience with a “highly recommended” breakfast restaurant in Chicago we were on the way back to our hotel as we crossed the Lincoln Zoo by accident. Outside you can explore a big biotope and inside animals of all kind. Even I have seen a silverback gorilla the first time in my life. The good thing, this zoo is absolutely free 🙂 For this shot I tried my Sony Fe 10-18 F4, which is my preferred wide angle lens.

2016-12-09 ALPINE BROOK NEAR ISCHGL
If you choose to take the way between Ischgl and Galtür by E-Bike or Nordic Walking you get rewarded with beautiful views of the mountain chains left and right of the valley. The way is very safe, no cars, you go beside alpine brooks and green willows. Often you can see sheep and cows, you can even visit an alpine zoo. And don’t forget, it’s really good for overall conditioning, the distance is about 10 kilometers (6 miles). 🙂

2016-12-08 MILAN IN THE NIGHT
We googled after the “little Venice” in Milan and then we took a Car2Go-Smart to get there. This is really cool, if you are a member of Car2Go you can use these cars in Milan in the same way as in your home town. It’s particularly useful with the limited parking spaces, with the Smarts it’s lot easier to find free spaces. 🙂

2016-12-06 SMART CITY
If I’m abroad and there is a possibility, I want to see tech cities like here in Malta. This one is called Smart City and is the home of Maltese Internet providers, data centers and high tech companies. I could get a visit at the BMIT data centre, this was absolutely cool, because it has been built with the support of Amazon.
